Rather than venturing south for my next vacation, I decided to embrace my ‘inner Canuck’ and check out some amazing vacation spots right here in Canada:

Visit The Polar Bears
Do I like the outdoors? Check. Do I love watching polar bears? Check. Then this Canadian adventure may be one for me to experience. In Churchill, Manitoba there are a few ways for me to see the polar bears. I can take a day trip on a specialized vehicle or stay overnight in a lodge. If I am looking for a unique travel experience and to enjoy our stunning Canadian landscape then a trip to visit the polar bears is one for me to consider.

Spectacular Sky Show
Would I like to marvel at the shimmering lights as they dance upon the night sky? Sounds great to me. A terrific way to spend my vacation would be to see the Aurora Borealis (sometimes called ‘The Northern Lights’).

There are quite a few places in Canada that I can visit to possibly see this incredible light show. So choosing the right spot for a vacation will come down to a matter of taste and other sites I wish to see while possibly enjoying some night time light shows!

Keep It On Ice
Do I have a hankering for a different kind of hotel? Sure, I can have one made of drywall and concrete but how about one made of ice? In Quebec, I can have the opportunity to check into this hotel. The ice hotel is only open certain months of the year-so I would need to plan my trip accordingly. Staying in a hotel made of ice seems to me to be a unique way to spend my vacation.

Have Dog Will Travel
There are many places in Canada that offer dogsledding excursions (from a few hours to multi-day tours). Getting out in the frosty Canadian outdoors while marveling at our breathtaking landscape all the while navigating a team of dogs is a pretty unique way to spend my vacation!

If my vacation takes me to Ontario, I can check out: http://www.winterdance.com/index.php

So while my neighbours are lazing in the sun at some resort down south, I may decide that this year I will choose a unique Canadian adventure instead.
