As the years quietly slip away, I find that I am critiquing myself more than ever when I look in the mirror. Who is that woman in the mirror? She looks familiar. Is that my mother staring back at me?

I’m not one for drastic measures, so I thought I would browse my cosmetic aisle and online for some products to help me get a more youthful look.

For the Brows
When I was in my youth, my brows were just there. Sitting above my eyes. The only attention I ever paid them was the occasional waxing. But as I age my brows are thinning quite a bit – they seem so sparse and patchy. I feel they need more definition. In walks what I consider to be an amazing product for my brows.

I found this brow gel mascara easy to apply. I just used the wand to apply the gel to my brows. It glided on smoothly and tinted my brows. The end result was a fuller looking yet natural brow that helped frame my face and gave me back the appearance of the brows I once had. Here’s the one I tried:

Pleasingly Plump
My lips appear to be thinning as well. Gone are the pouty full lips of yesteryear. Enter a lip plumper. A lip plumper temporarily plumped up my lips – giving them a fuller appearance. When I first applied it I felt a tingly sensation. I waited a moment and then looked in the mirror. Voila, fuller looking, shiny lips that seem to send me back to my younger years.

Softening Up
With my complexion being a tad more ‘mature’, I was also looking for something to help smooth out the fine lines and just soften me up. A foundation primer fit the bill for me. I applied it to my clean face and blended. Then applied my foundation. It seems to allow my foundation to ‘sit better’ on my skin rather than sinking in and settling in my fine lines. I find when I wear the primer it softens up my complexion and I feel I look more youthful. Grey Out
With my face ready to face the world I noticed all my efforts are wasted if I don’t take care of the creeping grey hair that seems to spring overnight on my temples. Not wanting to get my hair coloured every two weeks means I needed to find a temporary solution to these tiny patches of grey that threaten to age me right before my eyes. I discovered there are a few products out in the market that temporarily hide grey hair (many come out when you wash your hair).

The one I tried was a powder. I found the correct shade to match my hair colour and gently ‘dabbed’ the powder on to my grey hair using the brush applicator. I found it easy to apply. http://www.colorwowhair.com/canada/

Since I haven’t discovered a method to actually slow down time, I find these products really do help me feel and look more youthful.
